BCBA Consultant Job Description

Who We Are: 

Thrive Autism Collaborative is a multi-disciplinary group of autism professionals who, in addition to providing private services individually, also consult together as a team so families can benefit from the breadth of experience and expertise they have to offer. 

The group provides intervention to children and adults with autism and related disorders from 12 months through the age-span. One focus is on evidence-based, naturalistic interventions for young children with autism. We also provide services to young adults and children who would benefit from a multi-faceted approach and behavior analytic services. We primarily serve individuals in the metro Denver area, but we also consult with clients across the nation.

What You’ll Do: 

The consultants at Thrive lead our in-home, clinic based, and/or community-based teams, supervise team members implementing programming and behavior intervention strategies, collaborate with relevant providers, coach parents and teachers in strategies to improve their interactions and teaching with their child/student, and develop behavior analytic and developmentally appropriate programming and behavior intervention treatment plans. Consultants serve clients across the life span (i.e. birth-adulthood) in a variety of settings (clinic, home, school and community). 

  • Develop behavior analytic naturalistic and discrete skill acquisition programming and behavior intervention treatment plans 
  • Supervise team members implementing programming and behavior intervention strategies  
  • Coach and train parents and teachers in strategies to improve their interactions and teaching with their child/student  
  • Provide 1:1 therapy to children and adults in a variety of settings including the clinic, office, home and community, focusing on instruction in the natural environment  
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans and respond appropriately to all challenging behaviors 
  • Keep each learner engaged in motivating, naturalistic, intensive therapy throughout sessions 
  • Collect data daily during all treatment sessions 
  • Monitor student progress to make modifications to instruction, programming, or behavior plans 
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide uniform, high-quality treatment  
  • Lead team-meetings for all clients 
  • Conduct trainings or workshops for staff on a variety of related topics 
  • May supervise employees who are BACB candidates or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT)  
  • Hours of therapy may range between 8am-7pm Monday-Friday, flexible schedule available to meet your scheduling needs.

What We Need:  

  • 5+ years working with children, young adults (8-18), and/or adults providing behavioral therapy or in special education  
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification 
  • Hold a Master’s degree in psychology, education, communication disorders, special education, behavior analysis or a related field 
  • Willingness to learn new therapeutic skills, focusing on naturalistic intervention 
  • A love of learning and teaching, and a desire to improve your practice 
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with other providers 
  • Physically able to perform job responsibilities (active movement, lifting up to 40 lbs., physical management) 
  • Ability and willingness to treat individuals with severe challenging behavior (with training and support from supervisor) 
  • Familiarity with leading teams of providers and training parents and other providers on behavior analytic principles and strategies for intervention 
  • Mode of reliable transportation 
  • Show initiative and comfort working on your own during many work hours  

Our Preferred Experience: 

  • 5+ years implementing ABA therapy with significant experience implementing Natural Environment Training (NET), Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) or Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) therapy 
  • Experience supervising interventionists and/or a team of providers implementing programming and treatment plans in home or school settings 
  • Familiarity and experience working within a private practice in homes and community settings 

Position Type 

  • Part-time (8-24 hours a week) or Full-time (24+ hours a week)
